THERMOWELLS
Thermowells are a critical component of for both temperature measurement and as a component of the greater piping system or vessel. They really act as part of the piping system, in that they are exposed to all of the process conditions. Forces of flow (cross flow, turbulence and any vortices produced by the thermowell wake), Hydrostatic Pressure, Chemicals Present, and Heat. Therefore, it can be imperative to properly select the correct design, material of construction, lagging extension (for clearance of insulation and or pipe/vessel walls) and, most critical to accurate temperature measurement, insertion length.
There are many different designs for thermowells, each suited for a particular application or instrument type. Threaded Connections, various Flanged Connections, Socket Weld, Weld-in, and Sanitary Clamping Flanges, just to name a few. We have provided thermowells in many materials including, Brass, 316 and 304 Stainless Steel, Super Duplex Stainless Steel, Monel, Hastelloy Alloys, Titanium, and various chemical resistant coatings, such as PFA and PTFE.
Our staff is very knowledgeable when it comes to thermowells and we even can provide you with custom sketches to provide you or your customer with a clear visual representation of the pertinent aspects of a particular thermowell design. We can also provide you with Material Test Reports on request and offer Hydrostatic Test Reports on request. We also can custom Laser Etch thermowells with Heat Numbers, Tag Numbers, Serial Number and Part Numbers.
Let us help you select the correct thermowell for you instrument. One that will fit properly, be designed for the process conditions, and allow for your instrument to provide accurate temperature readings.
