Delivering Precision: Custom Assemblies for Halliburton’s Middle East Operations

At Colonial Instruments, we tackle complex challenges. The specialized units shown below were meticulously designed for the rigorous demands of the oil and gas industry, specifically for a significant Halliburton Project in the Middle East.

These assemblies are centered around a Ruelco pneumatic pressure switch, functioning as a three-way block and bleed valve. Its ingenious design relies on pressure acting on a piston against an adjustable spring force for precise control. A key specification for this application was the inclusion of a 135-foot remote capillary assembly, complete with a robust diaphragm seal, engineered to effectively protect the valve from crude oil clogs.

Colonial Instruments was the sole provider of the pilot valves, capillary assemblies, and diaphragm seals. Our expert team performed all assembly and stringent testing right here in our Nashua, NH facility. Every single unit was individually tested, precisely set to the required pressure, and then subjected to thorough hydrostatic testing to guarantee absolute system integrity and leak-free operation.

Superior “Tridicator” Alternatives: Custom Pressure & Temperature Assemblies

In our industry, the term “tridicator” or “boiler gauge that reads temperature and pressure” is common. However, most standard offerings are low-cost OEM products with limited ranges and a tendency for solder joint corrosion. We’ve often been asked if there’s a better alternative or a way to get non-standard ranges. While our initial simple solution was to suggest using a separate thermometer, pressure gauge, and fittings, we recognized that customers preferred a complete, assembled product.

So, we delivered.

Custom Digital Temperature Indicators: Accurate & Affordable Solutions

Customers frequently ask us for simple, battery-operated digital temperature indicators, whether for remote or direct mounting. While market options exist, many are quite costly. Colonial Instruments offers a superior and more flexible solution: combining a Pyromation RTD or Thermocouple sensor with a Status Brand Digital Indicator.

This approach provides complete customization to perfectly suit your application. Sensor length, connection type, and fittings can all be precisely tailored. Choose from options like fixed or spring-loaded stems, watertight cables and enclosures, spiral armor for remote assemblies, and sanitary connections. The possibilities are truly extensive.

We handle the entire process right here in our Nashua, NH facility. We’ll expertly assemble, wire, and program the unit to display in either Fahrenheit or Celsius, shipping it to you ready for immediate installation. We also offer thermowells and can provide traceable temperature calibration for added assurance.

Here, you’ll see examples of specialized assemblies, including products featuring integrated valving and accessories like flushing rings bolted between flanges. We also showcase a custom solution developed in collaboration with Parker Fittings Division engineers: a flush-mount flow-through fitting with tube ends. This innovative design was crucial for an application where any dead space was unacceptable, demonstrating our ability to deliver precise, application-specific diaphragm seal products.
